Windmill
Windmills became indigenous to the rural communities, and in some
respects, a source of life... Used primarily for providing water for
livestock, crops and the families themselves, the windmill was
eventually replaced with electric pumps. It became cheaper to string an
electric wire than to assemble a windmill. The windmill that powered the
farm's water pump had to be oiled once a week and turned off in storms
so the wind would not tear it up.
This is not just any windmill, but a favorite of someone very close
to me. A light on the horizon in the midst of a brewing storm, and a
source of life….
