I think everyone expected a
"winter" type of work for the month of December, instead of a
composition associated with the summer months… I began this project a
few years ago, which was intended to be a gift to a man I grew up
with…Ron passed away before the painting could be completed and once
he had passed, the painting was shelved. Not long ago, I had a lengthy
conversation with Debbie, Ron's wife, and I decided recently, to
complete the original piece for Debbie and Ron's two sons…At eleven or
twelve years old, Ron and I shared the branch of a tree near a fork in
the road of our respective houses. In that tree, we dreamt of owning our
own racecars, and becoming the "heroes" of the racing world…
In later years, we'd laugh over the fact that in my own car, I was
admonished by track officials for "racing in the corn field"
while several hundred miles away, Ron was black-flagged for running too
slow… This painting is all about dreaming, friendship, and
brotherhood…
